Alongside my visual art practice, writing has become another way for me to explore identity, transformation, and the journey of remembering who we truly are.
In January 2026 I became a contributing author in the anthology Women Rising – The Power of Becoming.
My chapter, “Choosing Myself or Losing Myself,” reflects on a deeply personal period of my life — the experience of shapeshifting within relationships, the impact of loss, and the moment when I realized that choosing myself was no longer optional, but necessary.
This theme continues to live in my artistic work, where questions of identity, inner dialogue, and the courage to return to oneself are central.
“Shapeshifting wasn’t confusion.
It was survival.
Little did I know at that time that one of the coping mechanisms that helped me survive my childhood had evolved into a pattern that, as an adult, was keeping me in a loop that was slowly killing me.
Rarely do we talk about shapeshifting without attaching shame to it. Right? Few dare to speak about it in a context where it is not seen as a weakness or a flaw. Yet here I am, addressing anyone who has been strong, agreeable, adaptable, “easy” — whoever you had to be to keep the peace.” Anna Kónya – “Choosing myself or losing myself”
